Atomic Nuclei

Introduction

Nuclear physics at LMCE focuses on the study of the nuclear structure, nuclear reactions, fission and nuclear isomerism. Each of these research topic features theoretical and experimental activities. The former include a strong component in computational physics and the development of numerical codes leveraging the outstanding HPC resources of the CEA,DAM. The latter relies on particle accelerators (in particular at GANIL, GSI, LANL, and at the CEA,DAM with the NENUPHAR tandem) and the development of detection devices at the cutting edge of technology. Our research strategy follows a multi-scale approach: from ab initio calculations (most fundamental scale) and specific observable measurements to the evaluation of nuclear data (most applicative scale). As a team, we are dedicated to take up the challenge to bridge these different physics scales through theoretical and experimental achievements.
