PISTA is a new highly segmented silicon detector, designed and developed through a collaboration between CEA and GANIL. It is used in conjunction with the VAMOS spectrometer as part of research on nuclear fission. Its main objective is to improve the characterization of the fissioning system in terms of mass (A), charge (Z), and excitation energy.
