Evaluation

The evaluation aims at estimating with the best possible accuracy properties of nuclear structures and reactions and to compile this information into databases available for technological applications. The LMCE studies in the field of nuclear data evaluation involve all the research axes pursued within the LMCE to realize such a synthesis. An evaluation concatenates the information of a set of measurements and theoretical models via statistical methods such as Bayesian inference or scoring methods. This allows the determination of the most probable values for a nuclear data (e.g. an effective cross section) but also an estimation of the associated uncertainties. This activity is part of international collaborations aiming at improve our knowledge of nuclear data for technology. The LMCE contributes for example to the development of the European library of effective cross sections JEFF or to the international project CIELO.
