Guillaume BOUCHARD

Ingénieur-Chercheur (Scientist/Researcher)

After a phD thesis at CEA Saclay where I studied laser-plasma interaction in the UHI regime, I obtained my PhD in Plasma Physics from the University of Paris-Saclay in 2020. I then joined the CNRS and the Ecole Polytechnique for 2 years to carry out research work on laser wakefield acceleration (LWFA) and associated with the development of the SMILEI kinetic code. After a new postdoctoral position at CEA DAM Île-de-France where I worked on optical smoothing and the study of its influence on parametric instabilities at the kinetic scale, I joined CEA DAM Île-de-France in January 2025. Both a theoretician and a numerical scientist, I now work mainly on laser-plasma interaction in conditions relevant to inertial confinement fusion.

Through the development of the SMILEI kinetic code, to which I contribute, I study many physical phenomena such as Raman and Brillouin backscattering or even the energy exchange between beams taking place in fusion plasma, within the Laser Megajoule (LMJ) installation or at the National Ignition Facility (NIF).
